University Academy is a K-12 college preparatory charter public school located in Kansas City, Missouri. The school was founded by Tom Bloch and the Helzberg family. Beginning in a small building located on 56th and Troost, the school has expanded to a much greater building on 68th and Holmes. Originally under the direction of superintendent, Dr. Patricia Henley, the authority was then passed to Cheri Shannon, but is now under the superintendent position of Dr. Tiffany Anderson, native of Virginia. The school is continually praised for its 100 percent graduation rate, above-average, and steadily increasing school-wide test scores, and the tremendous amount of scholarships given to its students. As a college prep school they achieve most high scores in MAP and sat 10 also in their acuity.
